I have spent A LOT of money on my Diabetic journey from Western Dr.s to Natural Dr.s. to Vitamin’s and Supplements.
I had passed out while shopping in a Walmart. Started to put my head down to lean on the grocery cart because I wasn’t feeling well. That was my last memory in the Walmart that day. I wasn’t feeling well, I passed out! Next thing I knew I woke up in a Hospital, startled and asked “Where am I?” a good looking Dr. said “You’re in a Hospital.” I responded “OH and I’m surrounded by good looking Dr.s” Everybody laughed. I heard some one say “She is OK”
The Hospital really didn’t find what caused me to faint, other than Syncope. It was recommend I go see cardiologist Dr. Fink. He diagnosed Syncope. My heart was fine. He recommended a Endocrinologist.
1st Dr. I don’t remember the Endo. name now, not important. He recommend a brain scan. Done with another Dr. Nothing wrong with my brain. Fast forward, I knew something was going wrong. I was having bad headaches, finally connected the headaches to too much sugar. Backed off with the sugar laden processed foods then the headaches went away. I didn’t realize I was developing Diabetes. I didn’t know Carbohydrates convert to Glucose. I continued the Carbs. Potato Chips became my favorite snack food. Carbs did not give me headaches.
2nd Dr. – At he age of 66 I lost weight fast and grew very tired. I dropped from 128 (5’10” & thin) to 114 pounds in two weeks time. I knew I had to get to a Dr. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Chase, she became my primary, I liked her. Dr. Chase did a test – Glucose 400 and I was dehydrated. Diabetes reared its ugly head. She sent me to the Hospital next door. I walked over, After checking in, I was fed me Insulin and Saline through my veins. I left a few hours later feeling like a new person. Dr. Chase but me on Metformin, it didn’t work. She referred me to an Endocrinologist.
3rd Dr. – Dr. AJ added Glipizide to the Metformin. When I went back to see him, I told him the combination of Metformin and Glipizide was giving me headaches and nothing is changing. He look’s at me and said with a nasty tone in voice “No its not” He then decided I am a Type 1 Diabetic and put me on Insulin. I wasn’t comfortable with him because of the way he said “NO ITS NOT” I thought to myself how does he know that? He does’t live inside my body. I left his office with a tube of Insulin and a few pin needles. I was going to give him another try until an office staff employee was very rude to me over the mix up of the script for Insulin, never got the script because Dr. AJ did not follow up. Time to move on. I knew my primary could prescribe Insulin so I stayed with her for awhile. In the meantime I was going to Natural Dr.s. I was determined to stop the Diabetes, to heal myself with the help of Doctors.
4th Dr. – Natural Dr. My 1st natural Dr. was the best. He WAS THE ONLY DR. WHO ASKED ME TO DO A FOOD ALLERGY TEST I agreed. ALL Dr’s should have their patients do a Food Allergy Text. The problem is Insurance Company’s do not cover Food Allergy test, they should. This Dr. was good for me. However I realized how much money I was spending with him and moved on.
I’m still with Dr. Chase at this time.
5th Dr. – Second Natural Dr. I thought I would try another Natural Dr. This Dr. really dug into my pocket’s. From selling me a ton of supplements on her shelf to a poop test. She starting to talk about Stem Cell Therapy. I told her “Let me think about it” I never went back, my pockets are not that deep. She never called to see if I was OK. Why did I not come back?
6th Dr. – Endocrinologist Dr. Lake. I won’t go into that story. I will say he was the worst of them all.
I am currently changing Dr.s “again” because my last primary Dr. Barkov who I really liked is no longer practicing medicine. So I was told. Poof she was gone.
I could write a book about all of this. Maybe I will one day. For now I will Blog to give the readers something to think about.
- If you are uncomfortable with your Doctor – Change!!! You have every right to shop around for a Doctor. Find a Dr. you are comfortable with. Look for a Dr. like you would for a car or house. The other day a friend of mine was telling me her new Dr. kept using the “F” word and she wasn’t sure about him. I answered: “He is a Professional, that is not acceptable. Find another Doctor”
- Tune into your body. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH every script medicine a Dr. puts you on. My insurance company wanted me on a Statin because I have Diabetes so I finally gave in a tried a Statin. Turn’s out Statin Atorvastain 10mg Tab made my joints ache. Took myself off Statin. My body does not need a Statin.
- It’s important to GET A FOOD ALLERY TEST DONE. Research the way you eat. We are all a little different, not every food is right for everyone. You could sensitive to Casein in Dairy – causes inflammation. I do eat dairy but not much because of the inflammation Casein causes. A Western Dr. would have sent me for testing my stomach and would have prescribed medicines for the inflammation and all kinds of testing. Thank you, 1st natural Dr. Jackson for having me do a food allergy test and you helped me discover why the inflammation of the stomach. As the saying goes. “We are what we eat”

A food allergy test price has been coming down. You can have this done with different laps – Quest Diagnostic – Lab Corb – or even on-line. It’s up to you.

One thing about statins. they do not necessarily do anything but make doctors happy and occasionally turn you into a zombie. Beware the damn statins.
